finished for the bike show

On sunday i will go to a bike show on my old rig, so i needed it to be ready.
Installed the clipons and fixed the brakelight switch.
Tomorrow a test run, yippee!

assembling the forks

I bought some nice new Clipons. this will allow me to lower the fork a bit for better steering and looks. i still need to adjust the headlight adapters to make them fit.

yesterday i assembled the forks. Because this bike was left outside by the previous owner for a long time the forks are rusted. so in time i have to replace them. for now they have to do until i do a complete overhaul of the bike.

because the weather is so good, my work on the bike is so slow ;). i will schedule the complete rebuild until the end of the summer.

but today i disassembled the forks. there was hardly any oil left and it was all white, probably because water leaked into the forks. the oil rings were rusty from the clips that hold them but they were really stuck.

now i have disassembled everything and will polisch the forks and rebuild them the coming week

Ignition Works!

i got a package from the mail with some new fork oil and rings, and some new ignition capacitors.
after installing the capacitors the engine ran great!

First modifications

i recharched the battery and added water to it.
the battery seems to weak to start the enginje so i used a car battery.
only 2 cilinders work.
after replacing the spark plugs all cilinders work again.
so it it was time for the first testdrive.

wow this is fun to drive! alot more relaxing than my gsx-r 1100!
after 15 minutes i had to get back home because it started to stutter again.

i cleaned the carbs because there were some water drops in the fuel.
but that did not do the trick. at a second testdrive without airfilters it ran alot better, but after the engine warms up the stutter returns.

because it looks alot better i decided to replace the airfilters, removed the side caps and front fender.

now i have to work on checking the ignition for the stuttering problem.

Hi,

sometime ago i bought an old 1978 Suzuki gs750d.

all the stuff seems to work and it even starts!
it does not run very well tough.

here is a picture in the state i bougt it:
